THE LOWDOWN

OSASUNA

Last season, Osasuna qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League with a seventh placed finish and also reached the Copa del Rey final where they lost to Real Madrid but the Pamplona-based club have endured a bit of an underwhelming campaign as they sit firmly in the bottom-half of the table in La Liga this time around.

Jago Arrasate’s side come into this one on the back of pulling off a half-decent point at the weekend at San Mames against Athletic Club. Osasuna went into a 2-0 lead shortly after the half-time interval before Athletic then made it 2-2. Osasuna ended a four-match losing streak before that much-needed point.

MALLORCA

After losing to Athletic Club on penalties at La Cartuja in Seville in early April in the final of the Copa del Rey, Real Mallorca took their eye off the ball in La Liga and plummeted nearly into a genuine relegation battle. However, the Balearic Islanders have managed to ease themselves away from the bottom three and the relegation places ahead of this week.

Javier Aguirre’s men edged past out of form Las Palmas by a goal to nil in Palma de Mallorca at the weekend. Defender Giovanni Gonzalez notched a 29th minute winner at Son Moix, ending a five-match winless run of form in the league and they are now six points clear of the drop zone with three games to go.

THE PREDICTION

We have the two previous runners’ up in the Copa del Rey with both sides struggling to deal with the heights of reaching the cup final. Osasuna play a fairly reactive and defensive style of football under Jago Arrasate with just 39 goals scored in their 35 matches. Real Mallorca have notched just 28 times themselves with only Rayo Vallecano and Cadiz scoring fewer than that. We are set for a low-scoring encounter in this one at El Sadar.

TIP: UNDER 2.5 GOALS
