Heidi Murphy becomes State Political Reporter at Nine News Melbourne

Heidi Murphy has become State Political Reporter for Nine News Melbourne as Mark Santomartino steps back to a Thursday – Sunday roster as he pursues an opportunity in the start-up world.

News Director Hugh Nailon said in a note to staff, “Since joining our newsroom a couple of years ago, Heidi’s broadcasting career has flourished. Already one of the most experienced state political reporters going around, Heidi’s made the transition to television really well, and deserves this opportunity to take on the round full time. Heidi will continue her various roles at AW, which will complement our Spring St coverage.

“Over the last couple of years, with Santo and Heidi both reporting on State Pols, we’ve had excellent depth in the round, as evidenced at the last State Election, and again last week on the State Budget. We also have many other reporters who can step in on State Pols stories, and a team of eager producers who like the round and give us the best possible result.”
