The first official look at James Gunn's Creature Commandos is coming sooner than you might expect

Creature Commandos, which is officially slated to debut next month at the Annecy Film Festival, will include a new first official look at the series, according to recent confirmation from WB Animation. I'm not sure if that consists of a trailer, though one can hope and dream.

All the pieces are starting to come together for fans of the DCU as projects are beginning to land release dates and other productions continue to film. As a primary fulcrum of the newly rebooted DC Comic film continuity is the R-Rated, TV-MA animated series Creature Commandos, which is officially slated to debut next month at the Annecy Film Festival, will include a new first official look at the series, according to recent confirmation from WB Animation. However, I’m unsure if that means we are getting a trailer, but one can hope and dream.

A panel description and a new series logo were officially released, creating hype and anticipation for James Gunn’s first swing at DC Comic media, which reads:

"From executive producer and writer James Gunn, Creature Commandos is the upcoming Max Original animated event series, based on DC characters and produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation which follows Amanda Waller as she forms a black ops team out of monstrous prisoners. Prepare for an in-depth look from Rick Morales (supervising producer) and Balak Yves (supervising director) into the artistry and creative processes behind this highly anticipated series kicking off a new era of storytelling in the DC Universe."

The 7-episode animated series will stream on Max and stars David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein/Frankenstein's Monster, Indira Varma as The Bride, Zoe Chao as Dr. Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, Sean Gunn as Weasel and G.I. Robot, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.

Speaking of Grillo, it was announced last week that he would jump from animation to live action, as the character of Rick Flag Sr. will guest star and join the cast of Peacemaker season 2, which is currently filming.

In addition, earlier this year, In an interview with Moviefone, Grillo touched upon Gunn's creative genius while offering a sample of what this latest DC series could offer.

"I love James Gunn and Peter Safran and what they're doing at DC and for the DCU, and these characters are living in all their movies. I'm going to be around for a while, and I wish I could tell you what I have coming up with them, but I can't

Rounding out the voice ensemble is actress Anya Chalotra (Netflix's The Witcher), who has also been confirmed by Gunn to play the Wonder Woman villain Circe in the series. In addition, Steve Agee will reprise his Peacemaker role as John Economos, and all signs point to Viola Davis being slated to appear as Amanda Waller.

Creature Commandos is currently slated for a fall release date on MAX, as Gunn confirmed via Threads. Gunn also noted via social media that he didn’t direct any of the series but confirmed he did pen the entire season and witnessed each actor’s recording sessions.
