Winnipeg man charged with more than a dozen drug, weapons offences
10:50 AM
Winnipeg police have charged a man with a raft of weapons and drug offences after responding to an apartment near Central Park early Saturday morning about a person with a gun.
Police entered the suite on the 300 block of Cumberland Avenue around 6 a.m. where they located the suspect and arrested him without incident around. Three other adults inside the apartment were also arrested, the Winnipeg Police Service said in a release Sunday.
“As officers verified the well-being of the occupants, several items were noted in plain view within the apartment and were seized as evidence,” police said.
Police seized a stolen handgun, an air pistol modified to shoot .22 calibre ammunition, $18,900 in cash and assorted drugs and drug packaging materials.
A 23-year-old man is facing more than a dozen offences and remains in custody. a 27-year-old woman is facing charges for drug possession and was released on an appearance order.
Two other suspects, a 29-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, were released without charges.
