If this guy is gonna post memeworthy cooing inside a meme thread, the least I can do is share.

Also.. just so *you people* all know..

I AM THE STATE

Just.. please.. I don't want to be Florida. Please, please, don't make me be Florida.

Serve at the pleasure of the citizenry?

The Police's primary function is to maintain order, and that is achieved by you guessed it, enforcing the law. Not for being your taxpayer funded customer service hotline, even if there's bullshit calls all day every day across the country. Imagine how many more real crimes could be solved, stopped in progress, or outright prevented if idiots like these didn't clog up the stack with bullshit about how their kids won't listen to them and go to school, or hiding behind some anonymous andy noise complaints at 6pm on Saturday in the summer when it's barbecue season. Maybe they'd even be invited if they ever had the courage to introduce themselves to their neighbors and weren't insufferable assholes posting on Reddit saying shit like "serving at the pleasure of the citizenry" lmao.

"...serving at the pleasure of the citizenry.."

Anybody who posts on Reddit in such weird, stitled language wears a dandruff covered bowler hat, and you can't convince me otherwise.

u/2005CrownVicP71 avatar

Be quiet and go back to pleasuring the citizenry 🤨

u/PromiscuousPolak avatar

If you aren't regurgitating a thesaurus and using a smug tone to write comments about shit you don't know anything about, are you even a Redditor?

This guy: tips dandruff-covered bowler hat M'lady

They read it somewhere in relation to government offices, and because they thought it sounded cool... So they've never let go of it.

Rather like de-escalation, and any number of other terms.

They have watched Blue Bloods and know that the Commissioner "serves at the pleasure of the Mayor", so therefore, by simple extrapolation, the Police serve at the pleasure of the citizenry. What exactly don't you get? /S

Ok you bootlicker! You obviously don't know that the Police's primary function is to repress the working class and serving the rich! /s

u/PromiscuousPolak avatar

Reeee eat the rich 1312, I posted myself posing in my all black kit and my KelTec sub2000 with an amazon special airsoft scope so that my comrades know I mean business!

We did it Patrick! We saved the workers and defeated the bootlickers.

u/specialskepticalface avatar

" ... I posted myself posing in my all black kit and my KelTec sub2000.."

Honestly, it doesn't even rise to that most of the time.

Most of the time it's:

"Guyse! Guyse! What do you think of these cool battlepatches I got for the denim jacket I found at Goodwill! My mom says if I clean up my vegan hotpocket wrappers, she'll sew on this cool Anarchy flag!"

And the picture basically looks like they faceplanted inside a Hot Topic.

u/PromiscuousPolak avatar

I was just making fun of a certain left leaning ideology sub's attempt at being bestgunnit. But instead of shitposts, pointing guns at their dicks and shooting Ak's with their feet, it's "guise pls let's remember to get organized" or "here's our 5 person meetup" or their immaculate kits that have never seen a day's use and perfectly pristine, poorly optimized SAFE Act compliant weaponry.

But otherwise yes I agree, vegan hotpockets are the devil.

Police should be defunded and abolished because they're all assholes! Also someone should do something about the crime around here! /s

“Service” in LE context has always been used in the wrong context… cops ain’t in the service industry, handing out lattes at Starbucks. Service as a cop is similar to military service, it’s a duty thing. You don’t see these jackwagons telling an infantry grunt “I pay your salary, do something I want”… and there’s another context I enjoy: Protect and Serve (a warrant on your dumbass). 💪

I serve at the pleasure of labor laws.

Pleasuring is a labor of love.

People like this always have a hard on for calling law enforcement out(even when it means jack shit), but I never see the same energy for administration/politicians.

Huh, interesting.../s

Oh what's that? They don't know the law, how the government works, and refuse to have rational and civil dialogue outside of their echo chamber? It's easy for them to rag on law enforcement with little effort, but not on those that actually shape policy and laws?

Imagine.

u/jollygreenspartan avatar

The customer is always right just doesn’t apply to people who answer 911 calls and I’m tired of pretending that it does.

u/Section225 avatar

Cops that do everything they can to be "nice," even when someone is under arrest and resisting, absolutely boil my blood.

Bitch, this guy isn't filling out a "How was your experience" survey a the end of this or giving you tips based on service, go to work.

I don't think you need to needlessly be a dick just because they're under arrest. But actively resisting yeah, gloves come off.

u/Section225 avatar

Nah I don't mean being a dick, that just causes problems for you.

I mean actually handling business when someone is resisting or clearly about to.

If I could upvote this more than once, I absolutely would.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for doing what I can to communicate nicely to people but the whole 'customer is always right' and 'I pay your salary so do what I say' mindsets are ridiculous.

I am a paramedic with two jobs from publicly funded institutions.

Does that mean I have these super duper secret restrictions that nobody has ever told me about?

What about volunteers? Taxes don’t pay their salaries…

u/KevinSee65 avatar

I told an arrest I wasn't getting paid to deal with him once and it threw him into this moral quandary apparently. Stopped being a dick immediately and even told me to stay safe when I was leaving the jail.

“I PaY mY tAxEs” is what one old guy said when he attempted to make a citizen’s arrest on me over mistaken identity. Basically what someone is implying when they make such an asinine statement is that they expect the police to do what they request or demand without question or even a brief investigation.

u/TinyBard avatar

The number of people who think that because they called the police first, the police have to take their side is ridiculous.

u/KevinSee65 avatar

Also the number of people who think calling the police absolves them of all other crimes.

u/Section225 avatar

I love when people call and tattle on themselves.

It does make our jobs easier though, so I'm not going to tell them to stop

I can't stand people who get all huffy and puffy and up their own ass about paying taxes. Your taxes enable you to live in a functional society, not to go boss people around because they work for the government.
