Sharon Kay (O'Brien) Halliwill, age 82, of Minnetonka, MN, formerly of East Gull Lake, MN, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024.

Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Harris Dwight "Ike" Halliwill; her parents, Volnie J. "Pat" and Ethel G. O'Brien (Rosvold); and her sister, Sally Jane Pitman (O'Brien). She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Shauna Kay Halliwill of Atlanta, Georgia; her son, Paul Brian Halliwill (Jeanne) of Minnetrista, MN; and her grandchildren, Trevor Halliwill, Dylan Halliwill, Jackson Ewing, and Ava Kay Ewing. She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Jean Bostrom (Warren "Mort"); brother-in-law, Jan M. Pitman; sister-in-law, Lyn Halliwill Schoenbaum; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Born on September 10, 1941, in Braham, MN, Sharon graduated from Milaca High School in 1959 and earned her B.A. from Augsburg College in 1962 and her M.A. from St. Thomas University. Sharon taught English at Hopkins Senior High School for over 30 years. In her retirement, she was an active member of the Nisswa Women's Club, where she served as past president and chair of the scholarship committee.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 28, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Clifton E. French Regional Park, Visitor Center, Oakwood Room, 12605 Rockford Road, Plymouth, MN 55441.
