What I like to call "Easy Watch Cinema." This is a gentle Hollywood confection with a sprinkling of drama and two winning performances from De Niro and Hathaway. I really enjoyed it.

Love De Niro & Ann Hathaway in this and the supporting cast that includes Rene Russo, went to the cinema on my own to see this and was quite thankful that I was the only person in the theatre (12pm viewing) because by the end I was sobbing like a baby.

Such an underrated movie that I would recommend to everyone who likes either De Niro, Hathaway or just likes romcoms in general.

I love this movie! One of the best I have seen in the last few years.

I watched this a few years ago and had a lot of thoughts about it... copying my brief review from back then:

Surprisingly good; but flawed. A cute and heartwarming story throughout most of it; but with some real heart and emotion. Great performances from Hathaway and De Niro. It could have been excellent with a couple changes... the heist scene could have been removed completely; it was unrealistic and didn't add anything. And the ending... I feel like the choice Hathaway makes undoes the entire character arc she was going through; and it leaves it with what I believe would be a likely bad future for her and her family. Which would be fine for certain movies; if the point/theme was that change is simply too hard for some people; and they are doomed to repeat the same mistakes. But the movie acts as though she made the right decision. And I just don't see it. But probably not the type of movie that even warrants that level of analyzing honestly; it's the director of The Holiday, Something's Gotta Give, What Women Want, etc, just there to make you cry and feel good.
