Death in Paradise star Don Warrington has given fans of the BBC hit crime drama a sneak peak of the set ahead of the new season. The 72-year-old, who plays Commissioner Selwyn Patterson in the show, shared some pictures from Guadeloupe in a teasing post on Instagram with the caption 'back to work.'

Filming is underway for season 14 of Death in Paradise which will see Eastenders star Don Gilet step into the show as Saint Marie's new Detective Inspector, Mervin Wilson. Don will first be seen as Mervin in the 2024 Christmas special, before a full series begins in early 2025.

While Don Gilet doesn't prominently feature in any of the new pictures shared by his castmate, fans are speculating that he could be the man stood next to Patterson in front of a building in the third picture on the post - although only the back of a head is visible. In the snaps posted to Instagram, Don Warrington can be seen dressed in character next to a police car talking to Ginny Holder's character Darlene Curtis.

Earlier this month, it was announced that ex-EastEnders star Don Gilet would be stepping into the shoes of the new DI on the hit show. On his casting, Gilet said: "Being offered the new lead role in Death in Paradise feels like a deeply loved and incredibly precious jewel has been placed in my hands. This is a big show, with a big heart and the love continually grows for it. It is my intention to never lose sight of that and to remain grateful, humbled and dedicated.

"Even during those testing times, when every sinew is screaming at me to run off the set and dive into the sea, swimming pool or an ice-cold beer – whichever happens to be closer at the time."

Fans were quick to flood Warrington's Instagram post the comments with their excitement and speculation. One eager viewer commented: "Introducing the new Inspector to the police station?"

"That's quite an operation behind the scenes making this great show," said another. A third fan said: "Can’t wait for the new season to start and the Christmas show as well!"
