HS Softball Wrap: Pennsbury heads to playoffs on back of win over Rock South

HOLLAND, Pa. – The  Pennsbury HIgh softball team failed to defend its divisional championship in the Suburban One League this year, but it certainly will take some momentum into the playoffs.

On the last day of the Pennsylvania regular season on Thursday, Pennsbury (13-6) crushed Patriot Division champion Council Rock South by the score of 16-1 behind a home run by Anna Evanchik. It was just the second loss of the year for Rock South (17-2). The first time these two teams played Rock South won, 3-0.

Northern Burlington 11, Willingboro 0

COLUMBUS – NBC upped its record to 17-3 when Abby Valente basted a grand slam in the third inning. Valente had two hits in all. Northern will host Timber Creek Friday and travel to Seneca Saturday morning.

Kingsway 5, Steinert 0

HAMILTON TWP. – The Spartans could not get their bats going against one of the top teams in South Jersey and dropped to 17-4 on the season. Olivia Sciulli homered for the Dragons (21-2).

Allentown 4, Spotswood 1

SPOTSWOOD – A triple by Riley Daly sparked the Redbirds to their 14th win of the year. Braylie LaFisca got the win with a two-hitter. Angelina Minerva, Holly Muni, Stella Logan and Daly all had two hits.

Delran 13, Burlington Township 6

BURLINGTON TWP. – The Falcons dropped to 7-12 while Delran upped its mark to 11-9. Danielle Gorman and Arianna Martinez each had three hits for Delran.

Lawrence 14, Trenton 0

TRENTON – Cardinal pitcher Emma Dobkin went 3-for-4 and Peyton Valentino was 4-for-4 as Lawrence won in six innings.

PRINCETON TWP.  – This represented a very disappointing end to the season for a Hun team that came up short in the Prep Class A state final. Hun had beaten Pingry, 13-3, earlier in the year.
