Chicago P.D. Season 11 Episode 12 Review: Inventory
The moment we have been waiting for arrives on Chicago P.D. Season 11 Episode 12, “Inventory,” as the Intelligence Unit follows the biggest lead they have received regarding the serial killer.
Even though it turns out the killer isn’t exactly a cop, the team does well at keeping things close to the chest and not sharing any details. However, they still lose their informant.
And because they are flying solo, one of their own is taken.
Is Jo Here to Stay?
After everything they have been through, it makes perfect sense that Jo asks Hailey to visit her in rehab. She is the only person who can understand her.
But it also seems to do Hailey some good. She can’t talk to anyone in the unit about what she’s going through. Their troubled pasts bring them together.
As we hear Hailey talk about her feelings and watch her go running, to work, and to visit Jo, we also see Jo as a human. On previous episodes, she had seemed too robotic.
Maybe it was the fear of getting caught and people finding out about her alcoholism. Now that fear is gone, we see her for who she is.
She is no longer hiding behind a desk. Instead, she gets involved with the team.
The involvement shows her that the unit is actually a family. And as much as Hailey is struggling, she isn’t truly alone.
Working closely with the unit leads Jo to see how great Voight and Hailey are when working together.
Before Hailey, it was Erin working under Voight’s shadow. They worked together perfectly, knew each other, and accepted one another for who they were.
Then came Hailey. She became more like Voight than Erin ever could. That became his closest relationship and the person he trusted the most.
But now that Hailey is leaving, who will be Voight’s person? Could it be Jo?
There have been plenty of similarities established between both women to make us believe that she could be the replacement (so to speak).
However, with her alcoholism and her very recent recovery, could she handle someone like Voight?
Solo Voight
Chicago P.D. Season 11 Episode 12, “Inventory,” focuses a lot on Hailey. She is the one who witnesses the informant getting shot and the one who gets the name of the killer.
When she heads to the John’s house alone at night, we’re afraid that something will happen to her. This is the perfect distraction for what’s actually happening.
As viewers, we’re so worried Hailey might get attacked that we miss the big picture. This is Voight’s obsession, so of course, the killer is coming after him.
The moment Voight sits at the bar and everything around him is moving in slow-motion as he feels all eyes on him, we get distracted too. We get to feel what he is feeling, so we forget he could be a target.
That is when the killer takes his chance and finds a way to bring Voight down.
Chicago P.D. does a great job at keeping us on our toes, wondering what will happen next.
Is it About Torture?
Since the serial killer’s introduction, we’ve known he tortured his victims. However, Chicago P.D. Season 11 Episode 12, “Inventory,” explains it further.
When Hailey talks to the John, he explains the killer is obsessed with torture. He asked him if he had tortured people while in the military.
He talked about torturing methods. All of this confirms he is the one they’re after. There are too many details they haven’t disclosed to the public.
With all this information and Voight being taken, the only conclusion is that he will be tortured, too. We get that feeling when Voight is unconscious, and the man starts playing with his eyelids to open his eyes.
But is it about torture? Or is it, as Jo said, about these people having someone they love?
Whatever the case may be, he messed up with the wrong sergeant. This family is definitely coming after him.
Chicago P.D. Season 9 has been all about open cases that find resolution episodes later. So, it makes perfect sense that the finale would be about this serial killer.
Voight has been obsessed with him all season long. Now, that obsession has come back to torture him.
Hopefully, we will see all of the Intelligence Unit coming after the killer, including Trudy.
