Marion Regnault Lockwood (Wilmington Funeral & Cremation)

WILMINGTON — Marion passed away at age 89 on May 10, where she resided with her daughter, Jeannie Gates, in Wilmington NC.

She was the daughter of Harold Regnault and Mary Lobb Regnault, and was born on November 27, 1934, on a farm in rural Lagrangeville, NY. Marion married Glenn R. Lockwood on September 9, 1956, and they were married for 60 years.

She is survived by her children Nancy Lockwood, Grant Lockwood and wife Janet, and Jeannie Gates and husband Christopher.

Marion graduated from Arlington High School and received a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from The College of Wooster in Ohio. She was employed at Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Millbrook, NY for 20 years in the education department in charge of the plant shop. She also worked at Blumen Barn, Pleasant Valley, NY as a florist. She volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and was active in the civil rights movement. She was on the board of Hudson Valley Green, an environmental group advocating for clean water for the Hudson River. She volunteered with the Dutchess County, NYS, and All County Taxpayers associations and was instrumental in the establishment of the STAR program.

Marion was an avid gardener, loved animals and was a prolific poet. She was an extraordinary mom. She brought joy into everyone’s life she touched, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held, date to be determined.
