Joaquin Phoenix is coming back soon as Arthur Fleck in Joker: Folie à Deux. While it won’t be the first superhero musical, it certainly is one of its kind in recent years. Starring Lady Gaga as Harleen Quinzel, a.k.a. Harley Quinn, the movie is expected to be filled with several memorable scenes, both entertaining and grotesque, apart from several songs.

To say that Joker’s end was brutal would be an understatement, for Joker killing a well-known personality on live television right after accepting how many people he has murdered in cold blood is definitely one of the most chilling scenes in superhero movies. And those who know how epic the Oscar-nominated flick was, would have some clue what Steve Coogan is trying to tease.

Steve Coogan is slated to appear in Joaquin Phoenix‘s upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux, in an unconfirmed role. While talking to Deadline recently, the actor remarked:

“I’m in it. I have a very interesting scene with Joaquin Phoenix. I play of sort of a CNN-type reporter that interviews him in his cell. But beyond that, I don’t know. I’ve not seen it, so I’m as in the dark as anyone else.”

At the end of Joker, it is not wrong to wonder whether the events happening are real or just delusions in Fleck’s head since he can be seen talking to a therapist at Arkham. But with Coogan playing a reporter and supposedly interviewing him, it either means the events are all real or that Joker has done some even more gruesome feats.

Seeing how Fleck reacted the last time a person tried to talk to him about his actions, there are also chances that Coogan’s character might end up becoming another one of his victims.

Joaquin Phoenix’s 2019 film Joker, was a masterclass in suspense, thrill, and acting. Not only did it win Phoenix his first Oscar, but the movie went on to be a huge success. part of its success was the ambiguous and suspenseful plot, which was just as deranged as the lead character himself, yet was masterfully well crafted and executed.

At the end of the movie, Arthur Fleck is asked by Murray Franklin, his idol and talk show host, to appear on the show. Dressed and introduced as Joker, he confesses to all the murders he has committed on live TV and shoots Franklin in the head, despite everything pointing out that he might be killing himself.

This leaves everything in a mess, and Fleck while being transported in a police car is rescued by people wearing Joker masks. The Gotham City is now in a state of unrest, and the movie also features the cold-blooded murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne. While Fleck is later put back in sort of a hospital along with a therapist, the movie ends with him walking along a white hallway leaving behind footsteps covered in blood.
