Crushing injury blow for Titans star as club receive mixed news — NRL Casualty Ward
The Gold Coast Titans were the hardest hit by injuries in Round 10, with four players leaving the field early during their win over North Queensland.
The Titans provided updates after Kieran Foran, AJ Brimson, Harley Smith-Shields and Phil Sami went for scans, with all four players out of the team’s Magic Round clash against Newcastle.
In a shattering blow, Brimson is set to miss six to eight weeks with a groin injury, however in some good news, Smith-Shields will avoid surgery for a pec injury and only miss six weeks despite the initial prognosis he’d be out for the rest of the season.
Skipper Foran and Sami both sustained hamstring injuries, with Foran week-to-week and Sami to miss a month.

WAYNE’S GRIM UPDATE ON DOLPHINS STAR
Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett has revealed there’s a chance star prop Thomas Flegler won’t play again due to a shoulder injury.
Flegler, who joined the Dolphins from the Broncos as a marquee signing, suffered the injury in Round 5 against the Wests Tigers.
The club gave an update a fortnight ago, confirming Flegler had suffered “a genuine nerve injury” but “it’s almost certain he will not require surgery.” The 24-year-old was also given a four-week time frame in which the club hopes to see further improvements that will help him move closer to getting back on the field.
However, Bennett conceded to AAP on Tuesday that “he could, absolutely” not play again this season.
“We don’t know with Flegler. He may not play this season,” Bennett said.
“It is a long way from where he is fit enough to play. The injury is very serious. He has had the injury and we all know what the consequences are.”
Meanwhile, the Broncos have confirmed young prop Ben Te Kura’s season is all but over, while Tristan Sailor will miss up to six weeks.
Te Kura suffered a Lisfranc injury in Queensland Cup last week and will undergo surgery in the coming days. According to the Broncos’ statement, the 20-year-old “will need at least four months of recovery time” meaning his earliest return date could be during finals in September.
Sailor suffered a high ankle sprain while also playing Queensland Cup last weekend and will undergo surgery this week. The club believes he will miss four-to-six weeks.
In some positive news though, Billy Walters should only miss one week with a wrist injury and is expected to return in Round 12.
