Gemma Atkinson claps back at 'offensive' Gorka Marquez rumours involving Strictly Come Dancing

Gemma Atkinson has clapped back at 'offensive' rumours that can often surround the stars of Strictly Come Dancing stars, including her fiance Gorka Marquez, when it comes to their love lives.

The show has been the catalyst for many romances over the years, including the Gemma and Gorka's. The couple met on the BBC One dance contest in 2017 when Gemma, 39, was paired with Aljaz Skorjanec and Gorka, 33, partnered with Alexandra Burke.

The pair's love continued to blossom after the competition had come to an end and they officially went public with their relationship following the end of the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour in early 2018. And the rest, as they say, is history with Gemma and Gorka now engaged with two adorable children.

And while it's still set to be confirmed if Gorka will return to the ballroom this year, or if he does, who he'll be paired with, Gemma has been speaking about the so-called 'Strictly curse' and how she doesn't let the rumours about what can a long-d0stacne relationship between herself and the dancer.

Speaking to Woman magazine, the Bury-born Hits Radio host said: "It's quite offensive - not to me, but to Gorka and his celebrity partner, or to anyone on the show. You are more or less saying to them 'are you going to cheat on your partner this year then?'

"If I walked into an office and asked that, everyone would be like 'why would I do that? But because it's a TV show we are asked every year 'Is this the year he will cheat?' Nobody says to Gorka 'is there a Strictly curse at home?"

The couple are currently showing the realities of their busy family life following their return to the small screen in their own popular show Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens. The second series kicked off earlier this month and follows the family months on from the arrival of second child Thiago.

And following the first episode, Gemma appeared to reveal her 'deal breaker' when it came to her relationship with Gorka after she received a message from a fan following the start of their's shows second series.

On Thursday (May 9), Gemma opened up her inbox to fans to ask her questions as she regularly gets asked about her fitness regime and food habits but she was also quizzed on family life with Gorka and their two children - four-year-old Mia and Thiago, now nine months.

Following the return of her and Gorka's reality series, one follower messaged Gemma and said: "It comes across on your show that Gorka doesn't like the dogs. Is it true?" They were referring to the Bury-born star's beloved pet pooches Norman and Ollie and alongside a picture of the pair, he said; "If he didn't like dogs I wouldn't be with him!"

She added: "We come as a package. Love me, love my dogs," alongside a string of crying laughing emojis. Gorka then reshared the post and gave his own response, writing: "YES!!! I love Norms and Olly but not as much as Gem does..." alongside a crying laughing and a face palm emojis.
