Lucknow: To commemorate the dual occasion of International Mother’s Day and International Nurse Day, as many as 41 artists exhibited their work at the ‘Vaatsalya’ art exhibition jointly organised by Kala Dirgha International Visual Art Magazine and Kalasrot Art Gallery, on Monday.
Prof Shobha Mishra, HoD, history department, Navyug Girls PG College, and programme executive of All India Radio, Atma Prakash Mishra, presided as chief guest and special guest on the occasion.
The exhibition is open to the public from May 13 to 19 from 2pm to 7pm.
Eleven guests (senior) artists and other 30 participants (junior artists) exhibited their work. Senior artist Awadesh Mishra (54) said, “I have depicted folk motifs on canvas like ‘Vizooka’, a village Goddess.”
Sachiv Gautam (35), a junior artist, said, “I have depicted a bird protecting her baby, which shows how a mother protects her child.”
Another artist Anshuna Yadav’s work showcased how ‘mother nature’ is getting depleted by human activities, showing how birds, animals, plants, fishes, flowers, seas and trees are getting destroyed.
Organiser Leena Mishra said, “In true sense the exhibition has given tribute to mothers. Like the way mothers nurture their children, the same way an artist gives care to his artworks.”
