The crash happened at Odell Road and Cedarbrook Lane between a car and a bus with the Sandy Spring Friends School. Two people in the car were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

MPD called officials with the Department of Behavior Health (DBH) to the scene, who determined the man needed to be taken into custody and evaluated.

Second District Commander Tatjana Savoy said that when police tried taking the man into custody, he pulled a knife out of his pocket and stabbed an officer in the neck.

They were both taken to hospitals.
