An underrated fast paced crime thriller for weekend binge watch. You may end up wanting more and wishing for another season.

Been doubtful of starting because I have no idea about the work its based on 'Chief Detective'. Would you consider that to be needed in order to enjoy?

Not needed, this is good on its own. More of old style detective stuff like Agatha Christie novels.
