Mics Caught What Caitlin Clark's Coach Told Her During Frustrating Loss
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever dropped to 0-3 on the season with a frustrating loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday afternoon.
The Indiana Fever's No. 1 overall WNBA Draft pick had a big game scoring-wise, though she once again turned the ball over a lot. However, many of those turnovers could be blamed on her teammates not picking up her passes.
During the game, ESPN's microphones picked up what Clark's head coach, Christie Sides, told her star rookie during the middle of a frustrating game.
“Give them time, give them time..”
Clark, who is leading the WNBA in turnovers, hasn't been happy with her lack of ball security.
Sides, meanwhile, is in search of a tougher team.
"If somebody keeps punching you, you've got to be able to respond to it," Sides told reporters. "You've gotta give some of that back. And that's where we are. We've got to get to another level of mental toughness.
"We just have to get better. More mentally tough."
The Fever are set to return to action against the Connecticut Sun on Monday evening. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. E.T.
