Woman Makes Good Use of Wine Rack—But Not What You'd Expect

A woman's creative solution to thrifty shoe storage has gone viral, capturing the attention of thousands online and sparking a lively debate on whether it's really necessary.

French content creator @alienorminuit shared her footwear storage tip on Instagram on May 8. Her inventive hack for organizing shoes focused on how people can make the most of small living spaces.

In the video, Alienor demonstrates how she repurposed an old steel wine rack to store her colorful sneakers. Viewers watched as she neatly stacked the shoes on the rack's wine holder slots, effectively turning the wine rack into a sleek and stylish shoe organizer that takes up little space in the corner of her Parisian living room.

"Using a wine rack as a shoe organizer for small spaces," she shared in the post.

She added: "I congratulate myself for this genius idea."

The woman, who has over 26,000 followers on Instagram, describes herself as a slow fashion enthusiast and amateur seamstress. She regularly shares her eco-friendly style and decor tips, and aesthetic shots of her colorful Paris apartment online.

What Do the Comments Say?

The video has garnered over 183,000 likes since it was shared on Instagram earlier this month with viewers divided over the unconventional storage method.

Many have applauded the content creator's idea for its creativity and space-saving potential, but others have asked if it's really necessary, considering the already low price of some shoe racks.

One user wrote: "Is nobody going to mention how cute ALL of the shoes are? Love."

"Shoe racks are like 5 bucks at Walmart," another user noted, though.

"I never understand people having their shoes out on display and not in their closets with the rest of their clothes," one commenter wrote.

Despite the mixed reactions, some Instagram users have jumped to the defense of the harmless hack.

"Why is everyone being such a hater," one person wrote. "This is way cuter than most shoe racks and some people like to display their shoes!!! I have some that I like to have out too. I love this, thank you."

It's clear that while the creator's hack may not be for everyone, it certainly ties in with her personal interest in upcycling and sustainable shopping while saving space in her city apartment.
