Longo offers update on Motta’s future – what it means for Milan

This afternoon, an update emerged about Thiago Motta’s future, and it is not a positive one for AC Milan after their recent attempts to salvage a move for him.

Since cracks began to form about Stefano Pioli’s Milan future, one name has remained consistently attached to the post, Thiago Motta. The Bologna head coach first emerged before Christmas as a favoured candidate, and with his links to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, these links were strengthened.

His overachievement with the Rossoblu this season has earned him a lot of praise, understandably, but his work is much more than results. He has cultivated the side and brought the club a new identity.

The recruitment has been exceptional, and players have risen in value exponentially, look at Lewis Ferguson, Ricardo Calafiori, and Joshua Zirkzee, who could be worth nearly €100 million combined after the coaching from Motta.

For these reasons, the Rossoneri have been interested for a prolonged period, but their reluctance to move away from Pioli may have cost them the chance to pursue him properly. Reports emerged in recent weeks about Juventus having an agreement with the coach, and today, Daniele Longo suggested on his X account that a deal could be finalised soon, given reports suggest that Massimiliano Allegri will not continue at the club.

Suggestions have been made that the Diavolo had recently attempted to salvage a deal for him, but today’s hint from Longo suggests that this will not be feasible, and Juventus may soon snatch him.

  1. If these news are correct then this management doesn’t learn from their mistakes.
This is again Thuram 2.0, same exact thing.
The management just sit there looking at our competitors snatching the best candidate we desperately need.

Now wait for Fonseca whose best achievement in Serie A was reaching 70 points in the same season that Piloi replaced Gianpaolo after a win less 8 games and guess what Piloi ended up at 66 points 4 points less than Fonseca

  2. Milan mgmt started off this adventure with a bad decision – firing Maldini & Massara

but the worst part is, every decision they’ve taken from then on – is the exact opposite of what the fans want and what made the team successful while Maldini was TD.

Milan is no longer Milan. Everyone sees it now except for a gullible people. People at the top are making decisions based solely on money and profit.

    Winning? History? Goo dplayers? No.

Buy low, sell high. That’s what gets Cardinale another boat.

With the budget we have we will never compete with Real Madrid or ManCity. Cardinale knows this. He just wants profit. Doesn’t care about the team, Milan or the fans at all.

Now you understand the rise of YES man, MONEYBALL MONCADA!

    1. That’s a shallow braindead take.

Firing Maldini & Massara is not a bad decision. They lost 4 core players for 0 Euros. Maldini opted for Origi instead of Kolo Muani even tho he had strong recommendations. Now we know how that ended up. Maldini signed CDK despite Pioli not wanting the player.

And what budget your are talking about ? Compete with Real and City ? Milan can’t compete with them cause those clubs have their own stadium and double of revenue( 700+ milions vs 400 milions) than that of Milan. Plus Milan is under UEFA Settlement Agreement until the end of season 2025.

Profit ? You don’t understand basics of how Milan works as a company. With these kind of profit Cardinale would pay off loan in 20 years from now instead general idea is to build a stadium , revenue streams and make Milan strong brand on the market and to do that he also need good results. Just earning top 4s in next 5-6 years without winning any trophy won’t bring him or RedBird.

      1. Not that i agree with everything meez is saying here but to be fair m&m was more restricted by the wage cap and by keeping some players we ended up wining a scudetto which might not have happened otherwise. Add to that some of our players basically ran away from their promises and pretty much bamboozeled the club with false promises. The takeover was also badly timed and caused an interuption of how they could move in the market.
Rest of europe also missed out on muani, Pioli has already said he was taken on advice in previous transfers as well as now so its fair to assume that he didnt oppose the cdk transfer even if it didnt turn out well as he also recently said that he had different plans for the player. Unfortunately it didnt pan out well.

All players brought in in the summer of 2023 except romero and jovic had been mentioned as potential transfers while m&m was at the helm of the club and some of them for several years like loftus and pulisic.

Milan certainly cant financially compete with the mentioned clubs and that would be regardless of a new owner. When we get a new stadium it will hopefully to some extent change but thats maybe in 5-6 years time.

Im sure redbird wants to win as its in the clubs and redbirds own interest to do so.

  3. Allegri’s gone now. With that, our chance in getting Motta is also gone. And maybe the same goes with Zirkzee and Calafiori.

  4. Juventus have officially sacked coach Allegri unfortunately next season they will be much stronger with Motta. Now it won’t be just us and Inter fighting for the league, that’s if we hire a good coach. Sometimes you go fast for someone just to keep your main opponents less stronger.

    1. Let’s see what happens with Inter. They are on the verge of being taken over by Oaktree, for failure to repay their loan. Unlike us, they have not taken a self-sufficient approach. Thing is, unlike Elliott, Oaktree has no interest in properly managing the club until a buyer is found. They could very well trigger a fire sale. Watch this space.

  5. Another wasted opportunity from our poor management team lead by Furlani.

Motta will shine at Juve. He would have been perfect for us but of course we miss out yet again.

Juve has Giuntoli and Inter have Marotta. We have a banker in Furlani. Enough said.

    1. Furlani is good banker. He keep Milan profitable. He is pure blood moneball. Give low salary, buy cheap, sell high, always qualifying for champion league.
