Miss Universe Philippines 2024 candidates flaunt pasarelas ahead of preliminary competition

Miss Universe Philippines 2024 candidates pasarelas ahead of preliminary competition

The candidates of Miss Universe Philippines 2024 gave a quick peek of their pasarelas or pageant walks at an event organized by multiple Filipino brands ahead of the preliminary competition happening on Sunday, May 19.

The event held at the Admiral Hotel Manila in Malate was complete with a short runway, which allowed the ladies to show off their signature walks while still making guests look forward to more in the coming days.

The candidates strutted the stage wearing pieces from Cagayan de Oro-based clothing brand MAGS matched with heels from footwear brand Jojo Bragais.

According to Enrico Ponce, co-owner of the pageant’s suncare partner, Fairy Skin, the Filipino brands came together to show support for the Miss Universe Philippines organization in empowering women.

“This is what happens when beauty and fashion collide,” Ponce said, adding that it was also a great opportunity to remind Filipinos of the importance of wearing sunscreen.

Reigning Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee and Miss Universe Philippines Executive Vice President Voltaire Tayag were also present at the event.

“We’re very happy, and we’re very fortunate that this year we have a huge number of sponsors,” Tayag said. “From the get-go, what I said was aside from just getting sponsors, we also get ones that are very aligned with our vision of giving women a platform.”

The preliminary competition will take place at the Fiesta Pavilion, The Manila Hotel.

On May 22, the organization will hold the grand coronation night.

Aside from the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 crown, four other national crowns will be given to four other candidates.

Confirmed performers at the coronation night are “RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. The World” top 4 queen Marina Summers, OPM band Lola Amour, and Thai actor Win Metawin.

Alden Richards, Gabbi Garcia, Tim Yap, Miss Universe 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel, and Jeannie Mai will serve as the hosts.
