Topaz adds crazy color noise when trying to sharpen black and white images. I have included a screenshot of the effect and the original Tiff file so you could recreate it on your end. I was just using the autopilot. (I cannot add the Tiff file, but will add the JPG so you can reproduce it).

This was a concert shot and I was using a 16 bit tiff file with Profoto RGB as the color space, if that matters. Notice the noise in the shirt. It is random color noise.

I just updated to the latest version today 3.0.2 and it still does it. I am on a PC, AMD, 64GB ram, high-end specs.

(Update- Since I could not upload my Tiff file, I exported a JPG and it will not recreate the issue)

I process things in TIFF until the final export. I am including a link to my google drive so you get get the Tiff file and see how it does it for yourself.

Here is the Tiff file:

Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out and sending in those screenshots. I was not able to replicate this extreme example of color noise on the Black and White image you sent in, would you mind sendin me your system profile information so I can get a better understanding of the machine you are using with Topaz Photo AI:

How To Obtain Your System Profile (Windows)

Also, just a quick notice, while working with the image, I was able to get a cleaner edit using the Denoise option rather than the Sharpen option.

Thanks John, Here is my system info.

DxDiag.txt (100.5 KB)

P.S. I have a bigger problem where Lightroom says my topaz output Tiffs are damaged and can’t read them. Stand by for that in another day or so. That happens with color and black and white images. I saw a thread on that, but it was closed out and I could not add to it.

Thanks for sending in that information.

I want to see if updating your GPU driver will resolve the problem, as there is a more up-to-date driver that has been released.

Please use the following link to update your driver: NVIDIA | Studio Driver | Update

After the update, let me know if you are still experiencing the problem.
