I hate to state the obvious but society in general isn't improving. More anger, less empathy, more fear and isolation.
Never beat yourself up because you fell prey to gambling in a society where people avoid face to face interactions, make their phone their 5th appendage, and act like anyone saying hello is guilty until being proven innocent.
So what results is loneliness and boredom and few healthy ways to fill the void. So more porn addicts, drug addicts and gambling addicts become the result.
This doesn't mean you have to throw your hands up and give in. Only the strong survive so be extra friendly, look people in the eye when speaking to them, take out your phone when you get back home.
Society isn't doomed but needs to change with one action/person at a time. I will admit I was very lonely and bored. Dollars in my gambling account may as well have been Monopoly money. It didn't feel real and the casino execs loved it that way!
Time for us to be our own advocates, say enough is enough, declare we are done following society's crooked path, and the human ATM is fucking closed!

Well said. I've had the same sentiment for a while... mobile gambling is another beast entirely. Within 5 minutes and a few taps, you can empty out your entire checking account with how easy technology has made it. Guilty. Regardless, I can appreciate the positive message of your post.
