“The Idol” is over, but the controversies that permeate the series continue. This week a series of behind-the-scenes photos were made public that supposedly come from the time when Amy Seimetz was responsible for directing the series, which was 80% recorded before Sam Levinson took over.

In the images we can see another facet of Lily-Rose Depp's character (Jocelyn) with many cut-outs of the character using very 2000s looks. It also shows several objects that give the public an idea of the dimension of Jocelyn's fame, which was a child star just like Britney Spears, who would also participate in Seimetz's version but was cut from the final version.

We saw photos of Lily-Rose with the child actress who would play her character at the beginning of her career, and Jocelyn as an adult with a more sober look that shows less of her body, very different from what happened in Levinson's version. In addition to images of Jocelyn with Tedros (Abel Tesfaye), which features a charming, wigless The Weeknd.

So far, none of those involved in the production of the series nor Warner have commented on the veracity of these images. But fans are already curious to know more or even watch this version, some say they would have preferred it to have been broadcast on HBO.

At the time of Levinson's hiring, the rumor was that Abel didn't like the prospect “very feminine” that Seimetz gave the series and as co-creator and protagonist decided to make the replacement even after much of it was ready. Rolling Stone magazine even made harsh criticisms of “The Idol” even before its release, and was rebutted by Abel both within the series itself and on social media, always emphasizing that the magazine has no relevance to him.

Now, almost a week after the series ended, its approval rating remains low. On Rotten Tomatoes it has a 19% critical approval rating and a 41% public score. On IMDb its rating is 5/10, which doesn't help much in gaining a new audience. “The Idol” has also been described by many as “The worst series ever made by HBO.”
