It’ll undoubtedly break some mods out there, but what mods exactly will and won’t break is impossible to know. If you’re worried about that, best advice is to stop the game from updating until more is known
🧊 Oh I hope they fixed the years-old Cryolator / freeze weapons glitch, so we can finally / freely use the things without messing up our playthroughs / depopulating (effectively) the map cells !!! 😓🙏

Yeah - from release version, way back on PS-4 and such… it was eventually found that IF you killed an enemy while the game ‘considered them Frozen’ (Cryo Grenade, Freezing armor effect if they strike you and it procs, Freezing assault rifle or such, or the most famous… Cryolator!)…
…then what happens is when that Map Cell (external area or internal / indoors location) refreshes, some in-game days / weeks after… those specific enemies killed by those weapons would Respawn ‘already Frozen’ / laying on their sides / on the ground… alive, technically, but completely unable to move or react to you in any way 😓..
You can kill them again, for XP of course, but they will only drop loot if you manage to blow off a limb from their body, with the killing shot (bizarre, I know).
The big / obvious problem is this was entirely Permanent !! - unable to be fixed for your entire playthrough, without being on PC and using Console Commands to repair each slain / frozen enemy, individually… ugh

So if you didn’t know this, and happily used Cryolator to clear out Nat Guard Training Yard, or Medford Hospital, or the outside area of Dunwich Borers .. etc, etc.., you could Permanently ‘break’ your enemies at those locations, making the world seem completely empty as every bad guy eventually would be just laying on their sides, forever, each time you went to those areas again…
Now, what I am TOLD on here, in recent days, is that Supposedly the Patch / Next Gen Update may have finally fixed this.. as people said they’d been using Cryolator regularly without seeing this occurring any longer… but I only just got Cryo last night, w Cait lock picking it, on my latest playthrough.. so I haven’t gotten to test this myself yet !!
IF you can test it out on your own updated / next gen patched game rum, Emerge.. and replay back to me here with your findings … I would be eternally grateful !! 😀
Take your own Cryolator with Crystallizing Barrel mod (best version / easiest to use) … and pick a location (save beforehand of course, just in case..)… maybe Satellite Station Olivia cause it’s close to Sanctuary. Go in and use Cryo on all enemies outside and inside.
Then leave, go back to Sanctuary..and sleep for several days / a week or two in game maybe. Go back to Olivia and see if you find most of the Cryo-killed enemies ‘frozen already / laying on ground’, as I mentioned above. That will tell us if they fixed this or not, finally !
I’ve never used the gun personally as I don’t care for lock picking, but companions can get it for me ? I’ll have to give it a try.
Yeah - Cait, from Combat Zone location not far from Diamond City… her special ability is to pick Any lock in the game ! You just have to Trade her like 50 Bobby Pins.. and then take her to Vault-111 with you again. When you get to the room w the Cryolator / Overseers desk… ‘Command’ her and then click on the locked Cryolator Case.
Your guy will say something like, “Think you can pick that lock for me ?”
She’ll walk over and begin trying. She’ll try up to 5 times in a row… and if she fails, she’ll stand up and say something like “not gonna happen”, or similar. That DOES use up the Pins you gave her, so just make sure she has a good supply to mess around with.
If fails, just Command again and she’ll try another 5 attempts. In my case, last evening, she got it on her ‘3rd Commanded attempt’ - using up 15 Bobby Pins in total 🤓
They won't I can almost gaurentee that.
Someone told me they SEEM to have fixed it, in the earlier April next gen patch - but I’ll test myself in the future 🤞

Then release the update to coincide with the rest of the world ? Release it early morning not mid day ? I get updates at 6pm it’s pretty annoying
