Toyah Willcox and Robert Fripp release new 'Sunday Lunch'

Toyah Willcox and Robert Fripp cover Alice Cooper in new ‘Sunday Lunch’ video

Musicians Toyah Willcox and Robert Fripp have released another cover in their Sunday Lunch series, this time giving Alice Cooper’s ‘Poison’ from Trash a fresh and exciting spin.

‘Poison’ is undeniably one of the shock rock star’s most notable tracks, making it the perfect muse for Willcox and Fripp’s upbeat series celebrating golden oldies through the ages. The song’s subject matter perfectly fits the duo’s celebratory time capsules, too, as Fripp provides the instrumental backdrop to Willcox’s best effort at channelling Cooper’s stage charisma.

The popular series began during the Covid-19 pandemic, and quickly became a weekly flagship event that saw the pair instilling some much-needed enjoyment into music lovers’ Sunday afternoons.

Throughout the years, Willcox and Fripp have bestowed many covers upon their audience, from Michael Jackson’s ‘Give In To Me’ to hits by Metallica and Radiohead. Their performance even graced the stage of Glastonbury in 2023.

The show also went on the road in the latter months of 2023, hitting venues in Birmingham, London, and more. In fact, the series has become so successful that they recently announced a Christmas Party 2024 UK tour, setting dates in place for concerts in Edinburgh, Bath, London, and others.

Announcing the news on Instagram, the post stated: “Following the runaway success of their Sunday Lunch YouTube series, and their critically acclaimed Tour of ’23, Toyah Willcox and Robert Fripp are bursting out of their kitchen again for the Christmas Party 2024 tour, five evenings of classic rock with their full band!”.

This news followed rumblings that the pair might be gearing up to launch a feature film which puts their unique YouTube series at its heart. Commenting on the prospect, Willcox explained: “We have a documentary crew following us, and we have quite a big production company scripting an idea at the moment”.

She continued: “Obviously, we wouldn’t be in it. It’s for actors to play, but that’s all in the back kind of pool of what do you call pre-production. All of that’s going on”.
