Mount Holyoke vs. Wellesley

Tips/Advice

I’m committed to Mount Holyoke, and I’m really excited to go there in the fall. It seems like the perfect school for me in a lot of ways, and I’m rlly happy to be going to a women’s college.

I got waitlisted at Wellesley and sent a letter of continued interest, but idk what I should do if I end up getting accepted.

I’m planning to pursue some kind of science major, and then maybe go to graduate school and become a researcher. I’ve seen a lot of people say that the atmosphere at Wellesley is very competitive and a lot more intense compared to Mount Holyoke. Apparently Mount Holyoke is more supportive/nurturing? Are the resources/opportunities/name recognition worth putting myself into a more competitive environment? I’ve never been an overachiever, so I’m worried I’ll feel out of place or get imposter syndrome. But would Wellesley be better in setting me up for success?

I know the chances of getting accepted are extremely low at this point, but I’m trying to decide in advance in case I get off the waitlist. Any thoughts/opinions?

I went to Wellesley and have a friend from high school who went to Mount Holyoke in the sciences. I don’t think you could go wrong either way, my friend has had a fine time getting into grad school. If the question comes up I would recommend looking at major plans and comparing them as well as the course catalog to see if there differences that are meaningful to you.
