    Not The Best

Here is my 100% honest review. The beach is beautiful, the resort is okay, the food is okay, some of the staff are rude, some of the staff are amazing. We kept comparing our experience to the Royalton in Negril, where we stayed two years ago, and Montego Bay Royalton couldn’t compete. We stayed in the Hideaway at both resorts. Let me start by saying the Hideaway in Montego Bay is not hidden away… it’s directly beside the family resort with very little separation. This trip we were trying to decide if we wanted a swim out room or to try Diamond club with a butler. We had a beautiful swim out in Negril, but we noticed in videos and pictures, the swim outs in MoBay didn’t go anywhere, it’s just a tiny pool, so we chose Diamond Club. Sounds fancy… it was not. Our room was very nicely laid out with a large living area, separate king bedroom and a large bathroom with jacuzzi tub. All great… except the pillows and mattress. Balcony was large, but said it was ocean view… technically, yes, we could see the ocean, I suppose. What we thought would set it apart was the service. After waiting a very long time for our luggage to be sent to our room, and a couple incorrect dinner reservations, we were not pleased with the butler service either. Tessa (make this woman a manager!) and Dexter saved them in this area. They went out of their way to make us comfortable. I would still choose swim out over butler, if you’re trying to decide. The Diamond Club Hideaway beach is literally directly beside the family beach, so if you’re hoping for an adults only beach, this isn’t it. Unlike Negril, where the Hideaway is completely set apart. The Diamond Club bar, however, was great. Stephen, Jamie Lee, Sonya and Maria were fabulous. This is also where we met Moriah, who is a total vibe… I hope The Royalton appreciates the talent they have in her. There were a handful of really great staff who unfortunately get lost in the sea of indifferent, downright rude or lazy staff. Some staff went out of their way to make sure guests were happy: Tessa, Dexter, Wayne, Sonya, Samantha, Maria, Julicia We went to visit the family side, which is way more modern, has much nicer cabanas and feels more upscale, which made us question why we were paying more for less in Diamond Club Hideaway. Many things felt like they had seen better days on our side, from cabanas that were falling apart or had ripped mattresses, to the older buildings and the Diamond Club “island” that looks like it was just forgotten, we strolled over to check it out, only to find (what could have been something very special) had broken down cabanas and garbage everywhere. Jamaica is gorgeous, the beach was beautiful. It was not a bad vacation, it just didn’t meet our expectations. I would go back to Negril, if I go again

    Nice Property - disorganized company

Our overall experience was average at best. The property is nice, but the hotel communication with guests is the worst I have encountered. To start after check in our door did not open, the maid tried to help and then said we call security. 10 min later, no one is around we go ask the front desk and then another 10 min later no one appears. Back to the front desk, no timeline to get in our room, no offer of a lounge to change in to enjoy the hotel, I had to ask them to tell me where we could sit and get food and they listed the name of the restaurant with no further direction. After lunch go back and they give us a different room. Second item, someone reached out in advance to book a cabana and we did, we confirmed via email 2 days before our arrival and got "confirmed" back. Get to the cabanas.. and then are told go back inside, get a receipt. Guest services then does not have our cabana booked, that was a different guy need to wait for that guy to call us back to see what is up. Pool bar staff were great! Food was average. Would try another resort before coming back here.

    Really good, just not perfect

We was so worried about all of the reviews on here, I felt the first couple of days of our holiday I was waiting for something to go wrong but even after 12 days, I couldn’t find a huge fault. The rooms are huge, clean and the mini bar was always fully stocked each day. The view was beautiful. The buffet food was 10/10, we loved the steak house, coffee shop and zen but the Italian and Indian were a little disappointing - certainly didn’t ruin our evening though. A huge shoutout to our favourite members of staff who always went above and beyond - Shacquille, Alex and Sean from the pool bar. (Made our holiday extra special, we will miss our 10am first drink of the day) - Richard from the buffet makes the best omelette. - Audley, for constantly smiling, waving, singing and for keeping all of the guests entertained around his spotless pool. - Geovanni, who absolutely makes the best cocktails of an evening in the Martini bar. Our TUI reps were super, Jade and gráinne for making our time so special after our engagement and for booking our trips hassle free. (We loved dunns falls and the Martha brae, the luminous lagoon was a bit of a fail the night we went but we have heard amazing things about this excursion) Overall we did have a really great holiday, I’m not entirely sure we would return purely because we didn’t hear enough Bob Marley, sometimes it felt like we could’ve been anywhere in the world, It was lacking the carribean atmosphere. The pool bar in the afternoons became very rowdy with music and behaviours I didn’t particularly think was appropriate for a family resort.

    A vacation we will remember

It was a wonderful experience. Room spacious and the decor was excellent. Our butlers, Leo and Michael, were very professional and friendly ensuring that every day was enjoyable. Our house keeper, Tenetia, ensure our room was tidied every day. Thank you Royalton for such an amazing vacation with my daughters 🥰
