Richard “Dick” Edward Pedrotti OBITUARY

Richard “Dick” Edward Pedrotti, an Arcadia resident of over 67 years, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on May 5th, 2024, at 9:08 am. Dick was born on November 27th, 1930 in Highland Park, California to Charles and Josephine Pedrotti. He attended Loyola High School and excelled at baseball there. He received a full-ride scholarship to the University of Notre Dame to play ball, however his father disapproved, so he enrolled at Pasadena City College, where he was co-captain of the 1949-1950 team. Dick led them to win the Western State Conference title that year. It was also here, at PCC, where he met his wife, Anne Doremus. Dick and Anne were married for 52 years before her passing in 2004.Dick went on to sign with the Boston Red Sox in 1951, with an impressive signing bonus of $75,000. He spent several years with the San Jose Red Sox, as well as the Marine Corps baseball team, where he was stationed in Hawaii. His first child, Sue, was born in 1955 while serving in the military and playing baseball in Hawaii. The Pedrotti family was off and running! Anne and Sue bounced around from game to game for a few years until the family decided it was best to move back to Arcadia and hang up the cleats; Dick and Anne were able to complete their family and raise 3 more kids: Bob, Dave, and Bill. In his post-baseball career, Dick followed his father’s footsteps as a plumber. He, along with his son, Dave, started Pedrotti Plumbing. Dick and Dave worked together serving the San Gabriel Valley for over 30 years together. He sure loved his Red Sox. He enjoyed watching games from his living room couch and attending games at Angels Stadium.Dick enjoyed life and everything it offered, touching hearts of strangers that quickly turned into extended family. Family was everything to him. Dick and Anne enjoyed hosting birthday parties, bridge group, and holiday gatherings at their home on Coyle Ave in Arcadia. Dick was often frequently found being the star of the show by singing along to Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra at local Italian restaurants. He also loved going to Lake Tahoe in the summers and enjoyed playing video poker in the casinos. He could usually be found with a glass (or two) of chardonnay while celebrating any occasion! In his later years, he enjoyed watching his grandkids and great-grandchildren playing sports. You could always hear his voice from the sidelines or in the stands, always joking around with the umpires, coaches and referees. He also volunteered with City of Hope as a greeter for many years, where he met a new set of extended family, and also is where he met Ginny, who he married in 2010. Dick made it his personal mission to be a positive influence with every single person he encountered, whether it was a patient that needed hope or a staff member that was having a challenging day. Dick knew exactly how to bring a bright light to everyone he crossed paths with. Dick’s unforgettable smile and infectious personality will be greatly missed. We all strive and will continue to embody his character and passion for life. He was truly one of a kind, and now he can rest easy with his wife, Anne, and son, Bob, in heaven. He is survived by Ginny, his daughter Sue (Art), son Dave, daughter in-law Melinda (Pedrotti) Daniel, son Bill (Albert) and Edie Miller; and grandchildren Jennifer (Donnie), Nicholas (Paige), Matthew (Melanie), Makenzie (Teddy), Allison, Parker, Brenden, and Glenn Miller. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren: Mateo, Jocelyn, Capri, Chase, Alexi, and Trey.We love you Pops! Go Red Sox!
