Lewis Pullman Drops Big Hints About Playing The Sentry in ‘Thunderbolts*’

Thunderbolts is now filming, and in a recent interview, Lewis Pullman teased his involvement with The Sentry. During his appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Pullman was asked about joining the MCU but didn’t confirm anything.

‘You know, I think the MCU is always something that I’ve watched and felt like is a beautiful world that is kind of untouchable,’ said Pullman, playing coy. ‘I think there is something about joining that world that is similar to joining television, which is whenever somebody joins in, you want it to be as a character you can live in for a long time and you want it to be an aspect of the world you want to be in. So if I were to ever get that call… it would be very important to take those things into account [big smile].’

Horowitz then showed Pullman a pic of The Sentry. ‘What a beautiful costume,’ replied Pullman, reacting to the blond hair the character is known for in the comics. ‘Look at those locks, my God,’ he said, taking off his hat to show his own hair.

The two also discussed what is the best superpower, with Pullman saying he thinks it’s shapeshifting because a shapeshifter could copy anyone’s power. This led Horowitz to tease that Pullman confirmed The Sentry must be a shapeshifter in the movie.

‘I haven’t looked into Sentry. First time I’ve heard this name,’ teased Pullman. ‘The Sentry sounds like a snakey, shapeshifter kind of vibe, if you read the comics.’ Horowitz also tried to get Pullman to talk about his audition, questioning if it happened after Steven Yeun departed the role, but again, Pullman wouldn’t give up anything.

Pullman also mentioned he gets mistaken for an older Tom Holland. More on below.

Thunderbolts gets released on May 2, 2025, directed by Jake Schreier. It stars Florence Pugh as Yelena, Rachel Weisz as Melina, Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Hannah John-Kamen returns as Ghost.
