Educated For Liberty Trailer Release

Parents have the right and responsibility to govern the education of their children. Early Americans not only taught their own children at home, but through church and private schools provided a biblical education for all citizens. This, in turn, produced the free nation of America. Christian education prepared citizens to love their neighbor, to govern themselves, to think biblically, and to pass on to posterity the character and worldview necessary to live free.

The goal of this film is to learn about early American education and how the Bible led founding generations in governing the education of their children, who formed the most free and prosperous nation in history. This film will encourage parents to oversee their children’s education and will inspire pastors and Christian leaders to become active participants, thereby assisting parents in fulfilling the responsibility to educate their children.

A statue to the Pilgrim Mother in Plymouth, Massachusetts bears the inscription: “They brought up their families in sturdy virtue and a living faith in God, without which nations perish.”

As Psalms is the hymnbook of the Old Testament, so Proverbs is its teacher’s manual. The moral maxims found there were used in ancient Israel to help the young acquire mental skills that promote wise living. Jewish teachers realized that “wise living requires the ability to reach sound decisions and to make right choices, and thus the ability to discriminate between what is right and what is wrong, wholesome and damaging, important and unimportant, wise and foolish”. George Barna, Director of Cultural Research Center, Arizona Christian University, says children form their worldview by age 13. His research identified four major influences: public schools, media, arts and entertainment and the laws of the land. He says “a child needs a worldview, so if we don’t help them develop it, somebody else will.” - FRC Washington Watch

In America, the foundational religion was Christianity. And it was sown in the hearts of Americans through the home and private and public schools for centuries. Our liberty, growth, and prosperity was the result of a Biblical philosophy of life. Our continued freedom and success is dependent on our educating the youth of America in the principles of Christianity. Stephen McDowell, America’s Providential History

Film Description: Biblical education produced the unique nation of America – the most free and prosperous nation in history. Families and churches assumed the responsibility for the education of all citizens. The biblical philosophy of education prepared people to live in liberty and pass on to posterity the character and worldview necessary to maintain that liberty. The rise of secular education has produced a decline of moral and academic excellence, which has led to a loss of liberty. The solution is to restore the educational philosophy, methodology, curriculum, and structure upon which America was built.
