SANDHULT, Sweden – The move to full-electric powertrains has robbed Volvo Cars' vehicle engineers of an ally.
In the past, barely audible sounds from the suspension, wheels, shocks or wind noise from panel gaps could hardly be heard over the internal combustion engine.
Those days are coming to an end at the automaker, which aims to be electric-only by 2030.
"The drivetrain doesn't hide anything anymore," Volvo vehicle dynamics engineer Kenneth Ekstrom told Automotive News Europe.
