Tess Daly says 'it was a huge honour' as she's supported by Vernon Kay over Royal Family gesture

Tess Daly has said it was a "huge honour" as she appeared for a garden party with the King at Buckingham Palace. The BBC Strictly Come Dancing host, who hosts the show with Claudia Winkleman, attended the illustrious garden party alongside husband Vernon Kay.

Tess wrote: "It was a huge honour to be invited to attend a reception to celebrate the Creative Industries at Buckingham Palace yesterday with a garden party in the company of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen."

She added: "@fernleyvillage it was genuinely the best Victoria sponge I’ve ever had (and since it’s my favourite cake, I consider myself a bit of an expert." An Instagram user asked: "Looking great as usual but where is your hat? X"

"Gorgeous! But is that Carl Cox next to you?" a second asked. "Beautiful photo of you both! Love Tess’s dress. Xx," a third wrote. "Does anyone know where this dress is from?" another asked. "What a great opportunity and lovely to go together, Where is the dress from please it’s beautiful," another said.

Sue said: "@tessdaly you and Vern are such a lovely couple , down to earth , beautiful dress btw xx" Speaking out after the event, former Strictly judge Arlene Philips was introduced to the Queen. She said: “She remembered me from when we last met.

"It was at a concert after I’d just been let go from Strictly and she said how much she missed me which was very kind. She asked me what I’ve been doing lately and I explained I was doing the choreography for Guys and Dolls. She said she had taken the grandchildren to see it and they loved it."
