FORMER Taunton Town striker Steve Murray has returned to Wordsworth Drive to join new manager Richard Luffman's backroom team as his assistant.

Murray is a familiar face for Peacocks fans, having joined the club in 2013 under the leadership of Leigh Robinson.

He went on to play 71 times in claret and blue, netting an impressive 31 goals.

Murray previously worked alongside Luffman at Cribbs FC in south Gloucestershire before taking on the top job on an interim basis for nine matches.

Speaking about his new assistant, Luffman, who was appointed on Saturday, said: “I’m really pleased that Steve has agreed to join me at Taunton as my assistant manager. 

“He’s an excellent addition to my team and will be a massive part of the club. He has bags of energy and his knowledge of local football is on par with the very best.

“He also loves this football club more than any other in non league.”

Writing on X, Murray said he is “proud to back and part of this brilliant football club again”.
