Iconic Broadway couple Orfeh and Andy Karl announce their separation
Two of Broadway's biggest stars have announced their decision to part ways after 23 years of marriage.
Orfeh and Andy Karl announced the news via a joint statement shared to Karl's Instagram on Wednesday morning.
"After 23 years of a wonderful loving relationship, both onstage and off, we have made the decision to separate," the duo wrote alongside an image of them together.

"Keeping a marriage strong can be challenging, especially when working on opposite sides of the world, but we remain committed to building a strong future, whether together or apart. We ask for respect and privacy at this time."
The pair have starred together in several musicals, including Saturday Night Dever, legally Blone and Pretty Woman.
While they are usually based out of New York together, the two have been doing long distance as Karl has been travelling for his role in Groundhog Day: The Musical.
Originally opening ate the Old Vic in London in May 2023, he then travelled to Australia to perform at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne where the show ran from January 2024 to April 2024.

The couple first met in 2000 when they were both cast in the theatre production of Saturday Night Fever.
Just six months after their meeting, Orfeh and Karl were married. They eloped in South Beach, Florida in January of 2001.
Both went on to become two of the biggest names in Broadway.
Orfeh, born and raised in New York, first found fame as a member of '90s pop group Or- N-More.
Over the years she starred in stage plays such as Pretty Woman the Musical, Legally Blonde: The Musical and Footloose, as well as finding herself in a few film and TV productions including The Good Cop, Law & Order, and Sleeping With The Fishes.

Karl moved to New York City to pursue acting at a young age, later finding himself in major roles on Broadway such as Rocky Balboa in Rocky and Cinderella's Prince in Into The Woods.
In a 2015 interview with Playbill, the couple were told that they were seen as the Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn of Broadway, with the interviewer adding that if they "ever broke up no one would believe in showmances again."
"We should hope to be together that long," Orfeh responded. "That would be wonderful."
