So I first heard this song in the movie Repo Man (1984), looked everywhere and couldn’t find it. Then… low and behold, a longer version is used in this old Fletch trailer that I just saw today. And of course, it’s not on either movies soundtrack.
I know it’s a long shot but thought I’d put it out there. I’d greatly appreciate ANY help with this. Love u

So Repo Man was released a year before Fletch so I was wondering where in the movie Repo Man do you hear the soundtrack? Maybe that will help me identify the composer

So in Repo Man, you hear the song playing the first time Otto & Lite are driving around together…It’s playing as Lite gives Otto the rat in the bag gag for Ms. Magruder.
This was the first and only time I’d ever heard that song. Just that little part…So when I heard this longer version on the Fletch trailer, I thought maybe the song could be more well known than I thought. I tried to Shazam it many times but nothings coming up. Also, the song is not in the movie Fletch at all.

So what I've been able to find is that the song is called Lites theme by Juicy Bananas whom also wrote another song for the movie. I confirmed this through IMDB and the following site : https://www.tunefind.com/movie/repo-man-1984

How it ended up on the trailer of Fletch (which sounds quite different after hearing it a bunch of times) is interesting and beyond what I could explain.

Super helpful and much appreciated! Ya know…. years ago I emailed Alex Cox about the music in the film that never ended up on the soundtrack and he actually responded. He told me to reach out to Zander but I never did. I should try that…. See what happens. Thanks again. At least we have the name of the track now.
