Back in early 2021, Moray Callum, vice president, design, for Ford and Lincoln vehicles, opted to retire following a long and successful run at The Blue Oval that saw the launch of several well-received models. He was succeeded by Anthony Lo, who spent a decade at Renault as the head of exterior design and expressed a desire to develop more concept car-like production models, shift to an interior-focused strategy, and look at cars as more than just modes of transportation. Now, however, Anthony Lo is departing The Blue Oval after just three years on the job, according to Automotive News.
Lo is leaving Ford to “explore new opportunities,” a decision that he made entirely on his own, according to the automaker, though it’s unclear where he will land next. Over the past few years at Ford, Lo oversaw a handful of projects including the Lincoln Model L100 concept, as well as the redesigned S650 generation 2024 Ford Mustang.
Anthony Lo – born in Hong Kong and educated in the UK – actually began his automotive career at Lotus in the mid-1980s, and proceeded to serve in various positions at Audi and Daimler before taking over as the head of advanced design at Saab in 2000, when that now-defunct brand was owned by General Motors.
Lo eventually became the head of advanced design at GM Europe before Renault recruited him in 2010, at which time he became the head of interior design. He remained with the French automaker for a number of years, rising up the ranks until he was eventually named vice president of exterior design before departing for The Blue Oval in 2021. As of now, Ford hasn’t tabbed a successor for its soon to be open role, however.

I can understand why Lo is leaving Ford. Besides the Mustang, Ford products are a bunch of boring cookie cutter SUV´s and crossovers. There´s absolutely no challenge or interest in designing that. SUV´s and crossovers represent the maximum expression of automotive involution.
Bring back Jack Telnack. Ford design was the best in the 1980’s.
