“I can be your daughter” When cops break into the Groene home on May 16th 2005 after receiving a call from a concerned neighbor, no one is prepared to find the family murdered, and as they identify everyone, they notice that the younger children, Dylan, 9, and Shasta, 8, are missing. As the authorities race against time to find the missing kids, Shasta is trapped in the woods with her family’s killer, nearly 100 miles away, and starts to plan her own escape.

“I just know it, there’s something wrong with my kids” -- On November 11th 2010, cops enter Tina Hermann’s home after receiving a 911 call from her manager Valerie, who reported how unusual it was for her to miss a day’s work without telling anyone. “Do you want candy?” -- On a warm afternoon in August 1983, Richard Poland goes inside his home to get popsicles for his 3 year old daughter, but as he watches her from the window, a car suddenly stops in front of the home and Lori is snatched off their yard. As the cops desperately try to track the ‘candyman’ who took Lori away, the neighbourhood kids join the investigation, and the little girl herself struggles to survive 10 feet underground, trapped in a cesspool far away.

When 14 year old Mary decides to hitchhike back home, a large van slows down and offers her a ride, with a driver looking like nothing but an old harmless "grand-father". As the car begins to drive in the wrong direction, she knows something is wrong, and a few hours later, Mary Vincent is fighting for her life, trying to crawl out of a 30 foot cliff, missing both arms, while the hatchet killer runs away and looks for his next victim, planning his next attack that would happen 19 years later.

June 8th 2003, in the city of San Jose, a ‘Little Caesars’ staff member receives a pizza order from a young girl, unaware that the caller is actually 9 year old Jeannette Tamayo, who has been missing for 3 days. Held captive in a small room in his house, her kidnapper brings back the food with a nasty smile: she knows that this could be her last dinner before he “gets rid of her tonight.” The memory of watching CSI with her brother flashes back to her mind — she is determined to fight until the last moment, so she grabs the pizza box, and becomes her own detective.

You know her name. -- 

You’re on your way home and suddenly, your phone buzzes. Everyone around you looks down at their screen, and you know it is now everywhere: on your social media feed, on TV, even on traffic boards. You don’t pay much attention to all of it but still skim through the description while walking, just in case. When you finally look up from your screen, a weirdly familiar car catches your eye and you call 911. A kidnapped child has been saved thanks to the alert on your phone. This story is not uncommon, and it all started in Texas, in 1996 with the unsolved murder of 9 year old Amber Hagerman.

"Oh... he's still alive?" --

July 31st 1995, Baraboo police department receives a 911 call in which a teenager calmly claims he is trapped in a house and has both his legs fractured. Little do they know, the caller, 13 year old Thad Phillips, is two hours away from death due to internal bleeding, in the house of a school mate. After two days of torment and two failed escapes, he becomes the only survivor in the hand of the notorious teen serial killer Bonebreaker, carrying the key to solving another mysterious “accidental” death from a year ago.

September 30th 2005, at her home in Pampa, 10 year old Robin Doan wakes up to a nightmare of gunshots and realizes it is not a dream. She hears her mother’s screaming, bullets shooting off, and before she could react, the heavy footsteps approaching her door. Robin’s family becomes victim to one of the most deadly home invasions in Texas, and the police officers don’t understand how they find the 10 year old girl unharmed. Her “perhaps too calm” 911 call will offer the only living testimony of Levi King’s merciless killing spree.

As Krystal opens her eyes, a man holds a knife to Katie’s neck near the edge of the bunk bed. From that moment on, two things are on Krystal’s mind: surviving through the night, and making sure serial killer Tommy Lynn Sells is brought to justice.

On the night of July 23rd 2013, Tiffany calmly calls the police asking for help after she injured her own neck in an attempt to take her life, while her ex-husband Kris simply watches her. When the detectives arrive on the scene, it’s clear to them that she didn’t do this herself. Her ex Kris says the opposite, and calls her a liar. As they dig more into the case, time is running out as Kris carries out his own plan to “finish the job”.

On Friday the 13th, best friends Misty Cockerill and Tanya Smith are walking to a high school party when they suddenly bump into a stranger, and things quickly go dark. While Misty wakes up in the hospital, investigators arrive at the crime scene and receive a disturbing phone call from a man claiming to be the attacker: time is running out almost as soon as the cat and mouse chase begins. This is what happened in Abbotsford, British Columbia, in 2002.
