“The new ‘Silence of the Lambs'”

Since its enigmatic advertising campaign began, horror film fans have marked the premiere of the new horror film by Maika Monroe (‘It Follows’) and Nicolas Cage, ‘Longlegs’, as one of the most anticipated dates. In recent months, the production company NEON has released a large number of videos and cryptic posters about the film, which suggest rather than show, and which bet everything on a terrifying atmosphere that, according to first reactions, builds “The first 10 scariest minutes in film history“. The thing promises.

Directed by Osgood ‘Oz’ Perkins (‘Gretel and Hansel: A Dark Fairy Tale’), ‘Longlegs’ has been described as “https://twitter.com/mbmcandrews/status/1788657211746681206” by presenting a similar story in which Rookie FBI agent Lee Harker (Monroe) is assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer (Cage). As the case takes complex turns, revealing a connection to the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the ruthless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.

Alicia Witt (‘The Walking Dead’) and Blair Underwood (‘American Crime Story’) complete the cast in roles yet to be defined.

The first posters that appeared on social networks show murder scenes and were accompanied by enigmatic texts that seem to describe the nature of the crimes in the murderer’s handwriting. In the following gallery you can see the posters for ‘Longlegs’ and its sinister notes:

With the release date getting closer and closer, teaser trailers of less than a minute in length have also been appearing, which are leaving more cryptic messages about which fans are already making their theories. NEON’s own YouTube account has compiled them into a playlist, with titles like ‘You have the teeth of the hydra on you‘ (is the one you can see at the top of this article), ‘Remember to say your prayers’ and ‘We were waiting for her‘.

‘Longlegs’ will compete for the title of best horror film of 2024 against ‘The First Prophecy’, the origin of the second coming of Damien, ‘Immaculate’, the international consecration of Álvaro Morte by Sydney Sweeney, ‘Abigail’ , the red-tinged feast of a ferocious dancing vampire and ‘The Last Late Night’, the “brilliant” film recommended by Stephen King that mixes ‘The Exorcist’ and ‘Network’ in a censored television program. Its premiere in the US is scheduled for July 12, while in Spain we will have to wait a little longer. Deaplaneta will bring it to cinemas in our country on September 27, 2024.
