Do buyers pay for winning auctions anymore?

I'm getting really sick of buyers canceling, not paying, and going MIA when winning auctions. And what makes it worse is when someone cancels an auction they won, I have no way to offer the item to the next higher bidder. The system is broken. And I'm just losing money on relisting items over and over. This is happening more and more often lately.

List Buy it Now with Immediate Pay Required and don’t take offers. Stop wasting your time with auctions.

I do that with 99% of my listings. I use auctions for higher priced items that I know have a big draw. Perhaps that in itself is the mistake.

If you know that the item commands a higher price, then put the higher price on it. You might need to wait longer for the item to find a buyer, but at least you won't be distressed from non-paying buyers on auctions/offers.

Also, ebay is testing a new system where offers that are accepted by a seller will keep the item for sale until the buyer pays. this is to eliminate scenarios where buyers hold the item hostage on the promise that they will pay later. These buyers are NOT your customers until they pay, so you don't need to do anything special for them before they pay.

I am getting just as aggravating, but with sellers canceling sales that don't sell for enough.

I have never done that in my 20 years of selling on ebay. It's not that hard to start the bid at the lowest I'm willing to accept.

It’s been said for a while by fear mongers but eBay is now really dying. Killed by corporate greed and shareholders. I’m not paying 50% to sell something anymore. I have over 10K feedback and I’m closing for good this month. Sell locally.
