David Stone was the first baby born in the new year of 1951 in Fredericksburg, TX. He was born to Charles Abner Stone and Virginia Curd Stone.
David enjoyed football and played defense at Fredericksburg High School where he continued his participation as a season ticket holder. He went on to Texas A&M and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics. David worked for the department of Health and Human Services for many years.
Beginning as a young boy, David worked with livestock for his family and others. He had especially fond memories of Dick Hardin. His interests of hunting and fishing with his father and friends was lifelong. David had a reverent respect for the land and what it provided. His last hunting lease north of Van Horn had been his thanksgiving for 30 years. He was known as being a great dancer (as long as there was a fiddle) and he loved his dogs.
He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers; Charles A. Stone and Richard Miller Stone. He is survived by his first cousins Mark and Jane Toppert, as well as many friends and acquaintances.
A graveside service was held on Thursday May 23 in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Davids wishes were for donations to be made to First Baptist Church, The Gillespie County A&M Scholarship Fund, or the charity of your choice.
