Minecraft 15th Anniversary

As part of Minecraft’s 15th anniversary celebration, the popular crafting game has announced ’15 days of Minecraft’ – bringing tons of free gifts, exciting teasers, and so much more.

May 17, 2024, is the official 15-year anniversary of Minecraft, as it came out on the same day in 2009. But in typical Minecraft fashion, there’s always room for a longer and more extravagant party to help celebrate one of the biggest games out there.

As such, 15 days of Minecraft was born, with Mojang beginning the festivities by releasing a teaser trailer, promising various free gifts, “something to see, download, or play,” “exclusive items” and more. So, to keep you up to date, here’s everything announced in 15 days of Minecraft so far.

While the official birthday is May 17, the 15 days of Minecraft event began on May 14, 2024, and will last for… you guessed it… 15 days.

This means that the celebrations will end on May 29, 2024, and it seems like the majority of the free items will expire on the same day if they haven’t been claimed. So be sure to keep yourself updated and grab all the new features when possible.

Everything announced in 15 days of Minecraft

Currently, only the first day has been announced, but we’ll update this article every time something new is revealed. So be sure to bookmark this and come back later for more free gifts, announcements, and more.

Day one: 15 new character creator items & half off

The first major announcement revealed 15 new items for players. Specifically, fans can get a new Character Creator item for free, each “representing a different year of Minecraft history.”

Only five items have been announced so far: the Cave Game Hoodie, the Crafting Cap (a crafting table hat), the Ender Hood, the Emerald Expert, and the Redstone Coat.

While only a few of the new items have been revealed, more will be announced each day on the game’s Instagram stories. However, we’ll be detailing them in this article when the next one is revealed, so check back soon for more.

Day one of the 15 days of Minecraft also features a heavy discount on the game itself, making it the perfect time to either pick up Minecraft for yourself or for a loved one.

Day two: Free Java maps

Day two sees Minecraft revealing a “10 year Java community map” that’s free for all players on Java Realms.

The map itself has tons of different structures from a Nether Ninjas resort, a Lighthouse, stunning island cities, and even a party forest.

Day three: 15th Anniversary cape & celebratory video

Mojang has now released an official 15th Anniversary Cape, rocking a cute Creeper design to help players celebrate in their own worlds.

You can claim this free reward over at the Minecraft website – but you’ll need to sign in before you can get hold of it.

Along with the cape, we got treated to Jason Momoa and Jack Black celebrating Minecrafts birthday. You can watch it below:

Day four: Free capes

Day two shows that a variety of new capes have been released for free, including some inspired by TikTok, and Twitch.

You can claim them by watching various streams on Twitch and TikTok, which will then give you a code you can redeem.

Day five: Minecraft Merch

While capes are certainly cool, there’s nothing better than getting your hands on physical Minecraft Merchandise—especially after Mojang releases some brand-new limited items.

Minecraft has released tons of new apparel for you to try out as part of its celebration, including bomber jackets, gaming jerseys, hoodies, t-shirts, and more.

That’s all we have on the 15 days of Minecraft event for now. As mentioned above, be sure to bookmark this page and check back soon for the next event or free item.
