RIP David Sanborn

I loved his playing. Dave plus brecker brothers was the ultimate section, on those albums. Also his playing on the gil evans albums. I saw him once with gil evans.
Everyone tried to copy his sound and style, rushing out to try those dukoff mouthpieces!
Very sad to hear of his passing. A true original.

Sad news. I bought my first sax after listening to him and Bob James’ album together, like 50 times in a single week. One of the greatest players ever. Another GOAT gone to sax heaven.

I knew of him, but can't say I was a listener of his. The past few days I've been enjoying listening to him on Spotify... even the wife passed a positive comment on my choice of listening.

Happy listening - there's about 26 solo albums and of course all the other albums Dave played on like Steely Dan, The Eagles, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, Carly Simon, Karla Bonoff, Bryan Ferry, Gil Evans, Elton John, Billy Joel, Tony Williams, Esther Phillips, Joe Beck, John Schofield, Brecker Brothers, David Bowie, Tommy Bolin, Michael Franks, Larry Carlton...you kind of get the picture...

Enjoy...

Greg S.
