A film about the future of the last remaining pub called “The Old Oak”, located in a village in the north-east of England, which people are leaving due to the closing of the mine. Houses in the area are cheap and affordable, making this village an ideal location for Syrian refugees. The owner of the pub meets a young Syrian woman. Will they be able to establish a common language? THE Old Oak is a film about loss, fear and the difficulty of finding hope.
