Anime fans are over the moon with the latest news about Rising Impact. Once again, Netflix is pushing forward with anime releases, and this one looks like a doozy, so I’ve put together everything you should know right now ahead of the show’s June release.
The History of Rising Impact
Rising Impact would start life as a manga serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen magazine called Weekly Shonen Jump. It was written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki and appeared from November 24th, 1998 to February 19th, 2002.
The strip would go on to be collected and find an even bigger audience when it was collated into seventeen tankobon volumes, from April 30th, 1999 to August 2nd, 2002. The strip is still very popular and continues to be reprinted today.
Of course, with the manga being so popular it would eventually become the subject of an anime adaptation, so on December 8th, 2023, it was announced that Rising Impact would be produced as an anime.
Netflix’s Anime Adaptation Explained
Netflix has revealed that the anime will be in two parts. This is not uncommon, and the double release will certainly give the story room to breathe, something that always helps these kinds of productions.
Rising Impact has always been a favorite for fans, so it is encouraging that the anime will be given room to explore its themes.

After waiting such a long time for this anime, I’m excited to reveal that Part 1 of the story will drop on June 22nd, 2024, and the second part will be along shortly, with a tentative release date reported to be August 2024.
Voice Cast
The protagonist of Gawain is voiced by Misaki Kuno, and you will remember the talented performer from Seven Deadly Sins, where she voiced Hawk.

What is the story behind Rising Impact?
The official Netflix synopsis gives the full premise.
“Gawain Nanaumi is a third-grader with an incredible love for baseball and making the ball really fly. In a chance encounter with a female professional golfer, Kiria Nishino, he learns that golf will allow him to hit a ball further than any other sport.
Using his physical strength and keen observational skills gained from living in a rural mountain area, he manages to hit the ball to such an impressive distance that it rivals even that of professionals. With Kiria’s help, the new golf enthusiast enrolls at Camelot Academy, a prestigious school for both skilled and aspiring golfers from around the world. Gawain wants to be the best professional golfer in the world but there are other golf prodigies with extraordinary skills that stand in his way and he has to face various trials to overcome them.”
Based on the above, it’s clear that the anime combines elements of sports drama with coming-of-age elements. The hook of Gawain going up against his rivals one by one is a very familiar structure in Shonen anime, reflected in everything from swords-and-sorcery fantasy to stuff like Pokemon.
Rising Impact follows a long line of beloved animes and is likely to make a big impact when it lands in June.
