Two Weddings In Las Vegas

First 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'. The film premiered in the UK 30 years ago, on May 13, 1994. 

A low budget film, made in 6 weeks, became unexpected success, all over the world, earned just mountains of money, and made of  Hugh Grant international star. It's also a film with a very strong David Cassidy's connection. 

The script was written by Richard Curtis (born in 1956), whose partner (they married after many years in 2023), a popular broadcaster Emma Freud, was (and still is) a DC fan. She gave some interviews about her love for DC and meeting him in person.

Two weddings in Las Vegas. Beau Cassidy and his fiance, Stephanie, just got married there. Something different was planned, in Europe, in September. And according to Sue Shifrin, Las Vegas was the last minute decision and that's the reason David's family, his brothers and Beau's half sister couldn't make it. Shaun was present, but he is on only one published pic, Sue Shifrin called him 'camera shy'...

Whatever are the reasons we wish young couple the best.

It's made me think about that first Las Vegas wedding, 47 years ago, David and Kay, in the photos they look like happy kids who managed to play exceptionally good joke, so beautiful, both of them, Kay's lace dress..

They didn't really know each other, they had completely different marriage models, but they were so in love they wanted their marriage to be successful. DC was a very private person, always very aware that people wanted to take his pictures..He was so in love that he stopped paying attention to cameras. There are a lot of pics of David and Kay kissing..There was such a passion. Love. And for a while they were very happy together.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing today's blog just to gossip about DC's private life, it's because I always admired that amazing woman, Kay Ann Lenz. She had birthday yesterday. 3 years younger than David, a few years older than a typical DC's fan.  In the 70s I heard quite a lot about Kay Lenz . Listening to his young, sincere, innocent and magical voice is one in a kind moving experience. 'I Just Hated Being In The Show..'

Last week someone posted a screenshot of the article from May 1974, unfortunately without the date or the name of the paper. Written by a popular journalist Roderick Gilchrist, I think it was Daily Express. We can read that this interview took place at London Weekend Television's Building, on the day before the DC's last concert in Manchester.  And David said, "I feel like the door to the cage has just been opened. And, any minute now I'm going to be able to fly right away from my prison.
