Benfica is already thinking about adding the victory the Portuguese Cup to the today’s conquered and celebrated women’s football championship, scheduled for next weekend, against the same opponent, in Oeirasp>

After winning in the 22nd and final round of the league against Racing Power, by 2-1, securing the first place in the competition, two points ahead of the rival, Filipa Patão’s team is already focused on the upcoming match against today’s opponent at the National Stadium.

In the press conference, after a huge celebration on the pitch where they were applauded by over 2,500 fans who filled the main venue of Benfica Campus, Kika Nazareth was the spokesperson for the group that expressed this goal.

‘It is not by chance or luck that we won three trophies and, God willing, we will win the fourth. On Sunday we have another final and now it’s time to celebrate and then we will win the Portuguese Cup to achieve a clean sweep in Portugal,’ said the player, before being interrupted by her teammates and coach Filipa Patão who were speaking to the media.

Asked about the team’s secret to outperforming the competition, Kika Nazareth mentioned the words that the coach shared with the team in the locker room before the start of the match in Seixal.

‘It’s the people. The coach told us that today in the talk. Many people helped us throughout the season from coaches to staff. Believing is essential. Then, we are Benfica and we are different because of that. We play with determination, passion, and emotion. We play like Benfica and that’s what sets us apart from other teams. The merit is all ours,’ she emphasized.

Individually, Kika Nazareth received the awards for top scorer of the league (17 goals) and best player of the competition where she played 18 out of 22 possible games. In both cases, the 21-year-old midfielder/forward is eager to share them with her teammates.

‘The awards are mine, but if I didn’t have my teammates backing me up countless times and the team helping me, none of this would be possible. They are also awards for my teammates and for the Benfica fans who have been supporting us since the first game and will be with us next weekend at Jamor,’ she said.
