Daredevil star Charlie Cox has joined Zooey Deschanel in the Amazon MGM Studios romantic comedy Merv according Deadline. He joins a cast that also includes Chris Redd (Saturday Night Live), Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond), David Hunt (Homeland), Ellyn Jameson (Barry), Wynn Everett (Palmer), Jasmine Mathews (Big George Foreman), and Joey Slotnick (Drive-Away Dolls).

Merv, which is written by Linsey Stewart and Dane Clark, centers on an estranged couple. The couple learns that the dog they share is suffering from depression after their breakup. So, they awkwardly reconcile and take their dog to a sunny vacation in Florida with the hopes that it will lift his spirits. The film is currently in production, with Jessica Swale set to direct. It’s produced by Matt Baer and Roma Downey.

Deschanel and Cox’s famous projects

Deschanel is well-known for films such as (500) Days of Summer, Yes Man, Almost Famous, and Elf. More recently, the actress starred in the drama film Dreamin’ Wild and took on a role in the Emmy-nominated Apple TV+ series Physical. Deschanel is arguably best-known for her lead role as Jessica Day on New Girl.

Cox is well-known for playing Matt Murdock/Daredevil, which he’ll soon soon reprise for the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again. He also briefly cameoed in Spider-Man: No Way Home. His other roles include The Theory of Everything and the drama series Kin and Treason, the latter of which streamed on Netflix.
