Tori Spelling is thinking about looking for love outside of her celebrity bubble.

On the May 20 episode of her podcast misSPELLING, the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 51, opened up to guest star Teresa Giudice about experiencing loneliness following the end of her 18-year marriage to Dean McDermott

“I know everyone tells me, be with yourself right now. You just got out of an 18-year marriage. Like, I don't wanna be with myself,” Spelling admitted.

The author also noted that she had “only dated costars” throughout her life. Before she linked up with McDermott, 57, she was married to actor and scriptwriter Charlie Shanian. She recalled to Giudice, 52, that the pair met because Spelling was cast in a play he wrote. In July 2005, on the set of Lifetime TV movie Mind Over Murder, she had an affair with McDermott.

“It’s my world. I know this sounds weird,” she explained of her dating patterns.

After her relationships with people in the entertainment industry, Spelling remarked that “it'd be nice to meet someone that has nothing to do with the business.”

The pair listed out potential dating apps Spelling could peruse for a new partner: Raya, Hinge and even Grindr, to which Giudice said “no.”

“Why’d you say no?” Spelling asked before coming to a realization that Grindr is a dating app intended for gay men. The actress then clarified, “Oh, Tinder!”

“You don’t know these dating apps,” Giudice jested. “She’s been out of it for a little bit.”

Spelling filed for divorce from McDermott on March 29, citing “irreconcilable differences” in court documents obtained by PEOPLE. Their official date of separation was listed as June 17, 2023, the same day that McDermott put out a since-deleted Instagram announcement that the pair had split.

The actress asked for sole physical custody of their five kids, Liam Aaron McDermott, 17, Stella Doreen, 15, Hattie Margaret, 12, Finn Davey, 11 and Beau Dean, 7, and joint legal custody with McDermott with visitation rights to be determined.

On May 13, the Chopped Canada host filed a response that disputed their separation date, instead listing it as July 7, 2023. He also pushed back against Spelling’s request for sole physical custody and wanted joint physical and legal custody.

Two days later, McDermott went Instagram official with his new girlfriend, Lily Calo, with a post of the new couple at The Magic Castle, a private club in Los Angeles. Spelling liked the post, which received criticism from McDermott’s followers, with one user calling it “mind boggling.”

"It's because she is a highly evolved and compassionate loving person, which is a lot more then I can say for the trolls commenting on this post,” the actor penned in defense of his ex. “Tori has a boyfriend. People get divorced and are better apart them [sic] together. That's life.”

A source told PEOPLE on May 16, Spelling’s 51st birthday, that although the 90210 star was “sad” about her split from McDermott, she “will be much better when she can totally move on with her life.”

“She knows the whole process was long overdue but it's never pleasant to deal with the details of an unhappy relationship that went on so long,” the source said. “She is OK and busy, so she will just have to endure this and fight for the children and however the money sharing goes down.”
