Govt school students hone their skills at summer camps
Raipur: Across the state of Chhattisgarh, children can be seen engaging in various creative activities during the summer break. From drawing on walls and books to singing, dancing, and acting, kids are actively participating in summer camps organized by the school education department.
The activities that are organised in camps include creating art with leaves, painting with vegetables, crafting with colourful rice, making toys from clay, designing with threads, and making masks.
These are all conducted in govt schools of different districts, said an official.
These summer camps are part of an initiative by the department’s secretary that aims at fostering creativity and innovation among children. The camps are being held in regions like Bastar, Durg, Raipur, Bilaspur and Surguja, providing a fun and educational environment where children can enhance their basic literacy and numeracy skills through play. This effort aligns with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aiming to reach out to children, parents, and teachers across Chhattisgarh.
The main goal of these camps is to entertain children while providing a healthy environment to nurture their hidden talents and boost their confidence. To ensure the success of these camps, secretary Siddharth Komal Pardeshi is continuously adding new activities.
NGOs working in the education sector are encouraged to voluntarily organize these camps throughout the state. Sports associations and other organizations are also being involved in this program.
The camps are conducted from 7am to 9:30am and are entirely voluntary. They offer a great opportunity for children to discover and develop their talents, which can lead to better outcomes in their overall growth.
Under the skilled guidance of the School Education Department, director of public instruction Divya Umesh Mishra is coordinating the swift implementation of the NEP. Regional and district officials are being provided with administrative and financial training through the Administrative Academy to support this initiative, added the official.
